Common Medical Dermatology Concerns

Acne

Brian Cook, PA-C’s holistic approach to acne treatment begins with a consultation. Brian will take time to listen to your concerns to  determine the best treatment program for your individual needs. The goal: prevent breakouts, detox the skin, and provide a radiant glow. Treating acne often goes beyond the actual treatment options. Brian takes pride in helping patients create a simple and effective skincare regimen for healthier, acne-free skin for life.

Cold Sores

Brian Cook, PA-C works with patients to build a treatment plan to manage outbreaks and ease discomfort. If you develop a cold sore, it’s important to consult with Brian right away, especially if you have a history of cold sores.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV)

Patients appreciate Brian’s gentle, clear, and commonsense approach to treatment. Remember, HPV doesn’t need to be embarrassing or painful, it just needs to go!

Keratosis Pilaris

Keratosis Pilaris (KP), also known as “chicken skin,” presents as tiny red ‘goosebumps’ that show up on the face, arms, thighs and buttocks.  People with KP can often improve their skin’s condition by following a straightforward and simple treatment plan.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes skin cells to grow abnormally fast producing scaly, thick pink to red patches nearly anywhere on the body.  Fortunately, today there are many highly effective treatment options available.

Rosacea
Rosacea is an inflammatory skin condition that causes redness and visible blood vessels on the face. Patients may also notice small, red, pus-filled bumps. These signs and symptoms may flare up for weeks to months and then go away for a while. Rosacea affects more than 16 million Americans.

Skin Cancer

1 in 5 Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime. If you are wondering if you should have a spot checked, the answer is yes! Successful treatment for skin cancer depends on early diagnosis.  Brian Cook, PA-C diagnosed his father with melanoma eight years ago. Thanks to early detection, his father is alive, well, and melanoma free.

Warts

Warts can be a frustrating condition for parents of kids with warts and adults dealing with the condition themselves.  Patients often say, “it just won’t go away!” Warts are caused by over 150 types of human papillomavirus and can be successfully treated using a variety of methods.

Dry Skin

Excessively dry skin is a common complaint among patients. Brian Cook, PA-C’s custom treatment plans are tailored to each patient’s individual need and are proven to be highly effective.

Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis)

Parents of kids with eczema or adults with eczema, aka atopic dermatitis, know it’s more than a bad case of dry skin. Be it mild flare or a severe unending eczema outbreak, eczema can be a daily life changing skin condition that can not only cause the skin to feel scaly and itchy, but can go on to cause burning sensations, loss of sleep, a feeling of self-consciousness at school or work. Call Brian for an appointment and find a solution that will work better for you.

Excessive Sweating

From arm pits, to the scalp/face, to the palms of the hand or soles of the feet, hyperhidrosis can be a recurring problem that often cannot be controlled with over the counter solutions alone. Schedule with Brian Cook, PA-C to discuss treatment options for patients who want to control their excessive sweating problem.

Mole Removal

Because it is common to have moles of varying shapes and sizes on our skin, we fail to give them the attention that they may need. Sadly, this is how people tend to overlook a mole that may be dangerous and lead to future problems.

Skin Tag Removal

Skin tags, medically known as acrochordon, are small non-cancerous growths that typically form in areas where the skin creases, such as the neck, eyelid, or armpit. Skin tags, while harmless, can be a source of discomfort and embarrassment. Fortunately, Brian Cook PA-C specializes in quick and painless skin tag removal. After having skin tags removed, many patients exclaim, “That was nothing! I should have had this done years ago!”
