Frequently Asked Questions

What is Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP)?

Platelets in your blood contain growth factors, cytokines, and proteins that trigger cell repair and regeneration. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is the concentrated portion of your blood that is used in the Vampire Hair Restoration® procedure to rejuvenate your skin and stimulate hair follicles for enhanced growth.

How does Vampire Hair Restoration® Therapy work?

PRP injections stimulate hair growth in men and women by increasing blood supply to the hair follicle and thickening the hair shaft. Vampire Hair Restoration® can force hair follicles out of the resting phase (telogen) to trigger hair growth and achieve natural-looking results. While treatment cannot cause new hair follicles to grow where there were none before, PRP injections stimulate the natural formation of new blood vessels and new cell growth.

Why Vampire Hair Restoration®?

Options, like prescription drugs, are often partially effective and carry the potential for unwanted side effects. Surgical hair restoration can be expensive, painful, involves downtime, and risks associated with surgery such as infection. Unfortunately, while surgical hair restoration can offer an improved appearance, the procedure itself does not address underlying medical problems causing hair loss. As a result, transplanted grafts can eventually fail, and the hair loss may return.

Fortunately, there is now an affordable way for you to improve your hair density without surgery or harmful side effects. Vampire Hair Restoration® uses your own PRP and works well to stimulate inactive or newly aging hair follicles. It has become a popular treatment to prevent follicular decline, restore follicular health, minimize hair loss, and improve hair thinning.

How long does the Vampire Hair Restoration® procedure take?

From start to finish, the procedure takes less than 1 hour.

How many treatments do I need?

Although many patients see results after one treatment, we recommend three sessions to restore hair follicle health. Some patients may need one treatment per year to maintain optimal results.

How are treatments spaced apart?

We recommend three treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart.

Is the procedure painful?

A local anesthetic is applied, and most clients report little to no pain. Some patients may experience temporary mild burning or irritation during the treatment.

Is the Vampire Hair Restoration® procedure safe?

Yes. The procedure uses your own growth factors, and there is very little chance of adverse side effects such as a blood infection or allergic reaction.

When will I start to see results?

Results can be seen in approximately 8-12 weeks from the first treatment with full improvement taking about 6-12 months.

Does the procedure require downtime?

There is no downtime. For the first few days, patients may experience some discomfort, redness, tightness of the scalp, or mild swelling.

How long do the results last?

In many patients, results are maintained without additional injections for up two years. Because many factors impact hair growth, results may vary from person to person. Continued research on the longevity of this treatment is in progress.

Is Vampire Hair Restoration® a cure for baldness?

Vampire Hair Restoration® is not a cure for baldness. The genetic medical problem will always remain. However, evidence suggests that regular treatments can significantly slow the effects of Androgenic Alopecia and increase hair density.

Does insurance cover the Vampire Hair Restoration® procedure?

Hair restoration is considered cosmetic and elective. Insurance companies do not cover the cost of treatment. The procedure is, however, very affordable.
